Columbus, OH - Finding a Black expert can be difficult,
which is part of the reason why you always see the same
Black people (Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, T.D. Jakes,
etc.) being interviewed on the news and speaking at various
conferences. Finding a Black speaker can be just
as tough.
However, Diversity
City Media, an 8-year-old multicultural marketing
and public relations firm, is seeking to change that.
The company recently launched BlackExperts.com and
BlackSpeakers.com - two online directories of African
American speakers and experts
The site allows individuals to profile themselves in
front of journalists, radio/TV producers, meeting planners,
etc. who may be interested in using them for PRIMETIME
media interviews and PAID speaking engagements.
Dante Lee, CEO of Diversity City Media, comments "There
are thousands of African Americans out there with expertise. Our
national directories give them the needed exposure to
be considered for media and speaking opportunities."
Lee continues, "We are not another speakers bureau.
We're more like a Yellow Pages full of Black people who
know what they're talking about."
The web sites, which launched in May 2007, are
free to use as a directory, but do charge a $200
fee to have a profile listed.
